HI, I'M JORDAN!
On the shelves of my childhood living room sat photo albums, each one filled with the imagery of lives well lived. My dad, a photographer by trade, was the architect of the photos that fascinated me most. A wave of nostalgia and inspiration washed over me as I browsed childhood picture books, rediscovering memories of forgotten favorite outfits and the simple delight of being a kid.
In middle school, I emulated this passion when I got my very first camera. I took pictures of my friends at our local parks and beaches in St. Petersburg, Florida, and discovered I had a golden opportunity to not only express myself, but to curate memories for others to enjoy as well. And then one rainy day, it broke. For years following, I was cameraless and my hobby got put on a waiting list.
It wasn’t until college that I gained enough inspiration to indulge in photography again. I packed my bags for college in Hawaii. There, life on the island was defined by scenery that has imprinted itself on my being and friends who held creativity and passion in high regard. My desire to document memories was rekindled; I saved up to invest in my second camera and have never looked back.
Three years later, I still use that camera. It has served hundreds of people in their embodiment of personal expression, accomplishments, and familial union. I continue to narrow my sight for the intricate moments that show more than they say, and build nourishing relationships along the way.
